Geographic Information Systems Mapping

Analysis of data on a spatial basis adds an important dimension to ones understanding of market potentials and development opportunities.

We have four workstations equipped with Geographic Information Systems software and make extensive use of the mapping functions to analyze and display information.

All the major shopping centres and most of the retail chains in South Africa have been geo-coded so that electronic maps can be produced showing their respective locations.

We have also conducted customer origin studies at most of the shopping centres to determine their sphere of influence, and their catchment areas have been similarly plotted on electronic maps.

Population data and demographic profiles are also available in electronic format, and we are presently compiling estimates of the catchment populations for 2010.
